The Chukirawa and the ecuadorian hummingbird

Flora and Fauna Series

The Ecuadorian Hillstar, a hummingbird species,  lives in the Andean region called ‘Cordillera del Condor’. Hummingbirds feed from plants that have a lot of nectar. The chukirawa, also an Andean native species, is one of them.

Ecuador has 3 huge mining projects, one of the biggest is called ‘Mirador’ , which exploits the ‘Cordillera del Condor’, home to  2030  species of plants (aprox.) and around 600 species of animals, not counting all the insects.

Ecuador’s extractive policies are going to have a terrible impact in the cordillera.

Yes to life, no to mining.
