The Pumamaqui tree and the Owl

The Pumamaqui and the Owl

Native plants series

Pumamaqui is an Andean tree that get’s its name in kichwa after the similarity of it’s leaves to a puma’s paw. It’s native to the Andean Region, in Ecuador we have the ‘oreopanax ecuadorelis’ species. We can see very few of this amazing tree in Quito, some of them live in ‘The Metropolitan Park Guanguiltagua’.

We need our country to start a reforestation plan with native plants! They are important to our ecosystem and to our society.
